Q. I’ve not had good reports about the tyre sealant supplied with my Mazda6. Is there a different spray that would not mean the tyre needed replacing after use?
GG, Ormskirk, Lancashire
A. Try Holts Tyreweld, which costs or (for 17in wheels and up) from Halfords.com (click the links above to buy). It is approved by the National Tyre Distributors Association and, being water-based, can be rinsed out before the tyre is repaired.
National Tyres () is one company that is happy to repair “foamed” tyres where safe and legal, but some firms will not. Sealant is no use on a large hole, so you might prefer Mazda’s temporary spare-wheel kit at about £330.
