England fans will be hoping it's a costly World Cup for the car sales website

THERE’S NOW another incentive to avidly follow England in this year’s FIFA World Cup: every time the team scores, Auto Trader will gift one lucky a winner a brand new car.

In order to be eligible for a prize, football fans are required to post a message to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram whenever England scores a goal, remembering to include the hashtag #AutoTraderGoals.

Auto Trader hasn’t forgotten about those people without social media accounts: participants can also enter using their email address — via the  — each time England fires a ball into the back of the net.

Auto Trader to give away free car every time England scores a World Cup goal

The competition will officially commence on Monday, June 18, with the first prize draw opening as soon as England scores its first goal; with luck, in its match against Tunisia.

Former England player and competition ambassador John Barnes said: “It’s impossible to describe the feeling of scoring a goal in the World Cup, but I imagine winning a brand-new car is up there too, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for a flood of England goals this summer.”

He added: “The three lions fly to Russia this week with one of the youngest squads to ever play for England in the World Cup. I’m hopeful this tournament will show the fruits of what this new generation is capable of, so I’m confident Auto Trader will be giving away plenty of new cars during what hopes to be a memorable World Cup.”

Many England fans will no doubt be hoping the car giveaway turns out to be an expensive venture for Auto Trader.
